Dynamics is dedicated to giving new life to those who never thought walking was possible again. Our client David, the lead singer of the punk band Repeat Offenders, was able to get his life back with help from our staff and his new prosthetic leg. David was first referred to us after losing his leg to an infection which turned his blood septic, resulting in an amputation. He was apprehensive at first, until he saw another client who recently received a prosthetic leg. “My first visit with Dynamics, I was in the lobby and ran into a guy that was riding a bike and just got his leg. It was amazing to see him standing, walking and ride away. I was so inspired by this. I did the same the other day, for someone, I told him, you’re going to do great and be walking in no time.” Until this moment, David never imaged he would walk again, but even before his very first appointment began, he realized there was hope. He has since become an inspiration of his own. David’s mother sacrificed her own time to bring him to and from his appointments at Dynamics, watching her son get his life back – literally, one step at a time. Working with Mary, one of our esteemed prosthetists, he began to regain his strength and learn to use his prosthetic leg. “My mom has come with me every time, Mary is awesome, she’s given mom and myself a lot of happiness, always good news every time we leave.” David now has a new lease on life. He quickly regained his independence, with his family and friends by his side. Without his wheelchair, he is able to enjoy spending time with his children in ways he could not before. His friends were surprised and proud to see him walk again and join them back at their old haunts and clubs. David is now playing music again, embraced by the punk rock scene, and becoming an inspiration to many around him. He is able to be the independent person he once was, enjoying life to the fullest. He is very thankful for Dynamics and our staff, particularly Mary who he plans to thank on his new record. “I appreciate life much more than ever before, I appreciate every day. When Eddie first came to us, he was still dealing with the trauma of losing his leg to an infection set on by diabetes. “First I was in shock, had to process… took some time, it wasn’t easy. There was nothing that I could do because the infection was in my blood stream and it was getting worse.” After a successful surgery at the Harbor UCLA Hospital, while still in the hospital he was visited byDynamics for his initial prosthesis fitting, his Immediate Post Operative Prosthesis. This is when he began his journey with us to walk again. Throughout his rehab process, Eddie worked with the Dynamics team, including, Mary to regain his strength. As with each patient we meet, Eddie was the star player in his own recovery. “…Pretty much everything was up to me. A couple of therapists at the hospital helped a great deal, with physical therapy and exercises.” It was not long before he began seeing results and was able to enjoy the independence he once knew. His strength was and still is an inspiration to his family and friends, as well as many strangers he has made into friends. Eight years later, Eddie is taking advantage of every day with his new leg. “I enjoy maintaining an active lifestyle, cycling is my biggest love right now.” Throughout his process, Eddie never gave up hope. In fact, his experience gave him a new, refreshed outlook on life. “After the amputation [I’ve] been pretty driven to lead a normal lifestyle. During the process, I started reading spiritual self-help [books]… reinventing myself, and realizing how important it was to let go and move forward, and not being held back. I was embracing an artificial [while] limb while connecting with my inner self and outer self, [my] physical mental state. Cycling was putting me in a peaceful zone.” Receiving a prosthetic leg made things possible that Eddie had given up on. “Realizing that having the prosthetic meant that some of things I thought were done… were not done, it was just a new beginning.” His story is one we see often, and that’s what makes what we do at Dynamics so amazing. Eddie continues to pass on his hope to others. “I see people all the time with amputations. They ride in wheelchairs… I just stop and engage in conversation, I show them that I have a prosthesis. I hope that it’s encouragement to someone. Maybe they think they don’t know what they’re capable of.” Patients like Eddie give us all hope and make us proud of what we do every day at Dynamics.

Hello, My name is Autianya Pascqua and I am a paraplegic due to a hit and run car accident on May 3rd, 1992. I was a professional Dance Choreographer at the time and was about to sign a record deal. In less than 5 minutes, my whole life changed, but not for the worse. After trials and tribulations, I rededicated my life to God and He once again blessed me with the gift of dance. Yes in my wheelchair. You might recognise me as the girl in Ludacris’s Music Video ”Stand Up”. After that song ministered to my spirit to “Stand Up”, I prayed to God and asked Him to “loose the manifestation of my healing so that I can walk again.” The very next day I got a phone call that said,” Hello, my name is Luz (loose) and I’m calling from Dynamics Walk Again Rehabilitation Center.” How awesome was that… It has been one amazing journey and testimony after testimony ever since I started walking again because of the help, love, and support that I have received from everyone at Dynamics. I would recommend this opportunity and experience to everyone who can benefit from this place. My name is Luz Rocha. I am a 24 years-old T8 paraplegic since 1997 due to a gun shot wound. Before I found out about Dynamics I was told I could never walk again due to the level of injury that I have. The first two years after my accident I had no choice but to be wheelchair bound. Luckily, a friend of mine told me about Dynamics and the RGO brace. My life changed completely when I got my brace and had the choice to walk again. I use my brace two to three times a week. My family and friends also encourage me to keep walking. It has gotten so easy for me to use my brace whenever I need to. I do not just walk for exercise anymore I also use it to do chores at home. I’ve used it at work. I even use it to wash my car. I am so grateful with all the therapist who are very patient and understanding. They have brought out the best in me and became very good friends of mine. We have even gone out dancing. Dynamics has a very friendly environment. I liked it so much I began working there in 2004. I am proud to say I am part of the staff and friend of the patients. I recommend Dynamics to anyone who is interested in walking again. One of my goals is to be able to walk at my wedding, some day.

I had five (5) strokes, the third one is what did me in. I have been unable to walk since June 5, 2004. I would love to be able to walk a little again. I have more strength since coming here and hope to improve to be able to help myself better. Tell everyone this is the best rehab place there is.

After nearly fifty (50) years of MS and following one (1) month hospitalization, Dynamics enabled me to regain physical independence. And now after several unfortunate occurances, the physical therapists at Dynamics have shown perseverance, confidence and professional expertise in helping me to regain and surpass my previous goals.

My name is Kevin. I am fifteen and a half years old. I was at the Abilities Expo when I first met the Dynamics team. My mom and I had made a very big decision after I got the evaluation with the Dynamic team; I had to give up one day a week of my academic school time, in order for me to come to Dynamics Walkagain to receive physical therapy. I thought my mom would never be able to drive far away, but she had to be brave enough to drive me every Friday to the Dynamic Clinic. It took about five hundred thirty miles for a round trip because we live in Fresno. When I first came to Dynamics Walkagain Rehabilitation Unit, I could not do a thing. My mobility and motor skills were bade because for many years California Children Services in Fresno did not provide me the appropriate physical therapy. Dynamics helped me get back the strength I needed and taught me new things so that I could be independent. I would never have got to where I am now without Dynamics and their great staff. I truly believe the Dynamics Walkagain Rehab Unit is devoted to getting people who have a desire to walk again achieve their goal. They are like family to me. I strongly recommend this place to others. Thank you Dynamics for helping me, and I am glad I’m with this program.
